Stump Alter #1, 46″ x 56″ x 63″, Cardboard and mixed media with live tree in wood and metal planter, 2020
My goal as an artist is to make striking installations which exist within and add to the conversations around impending ecological collapse. I create these through the lens of my own emotional connection to trees. My work inhabits an imagined near future where we are facing the extreme effects of climate change and must find a way to continue, and to contend with this new reality. My work exists as a relic of this near future world and takes inspiration from religious objects of importance from our collective past. Material use, as well as form, are important to my style of storytelling and help convey the state of the world from which it comes.
